Turn in sweatsuits
Coach Wolkoff will collect all sweat suits this Friday, January 26, in the health room at the Jr. High. Please return your uniform immediately after school. Sweat suits should be cleaned and top and bottom numbers must be the same.
Championship information
Diving Championships will be held at Sycamore High School on Friday, January 11. Warm ups are at 6:30 p.m. and the meet starts at 7:30 p.m.
Swimming Championships are being held at Mason Natatorium on Saturday, January 12. Warm ups are at 12:30 p.m. and the meet will begin at 2:00 p.m. The bus will leave Sycamore Jr. High promptly at 11:30 a.m.
There is no bus for a return to the Jr. High at the end of the meet. The meet should be over about 6:00 p.m.
Swimmers are encouraged to bring healthy snacks and water or juice for during the meet.
Winter Sports Banquet
Mark your calendar! The Winter Sports Banquet is on Wednesday, February 20, at 7:00 p.m. in the Jr. High Auditorium. All swimmers are encouraged to attend so they can be recognized for the hard work and successes.
Sandwich Project, January 9
Jan. 9th we have the Sandwich Project directly after school in the cafeteria followed by our Championship Pizza Party where we'll make posters for Championships and carb-up! Please donate $3 towards the Sandwich Project (the kids make about 500 bologna sandwiches for a shelter) and $2 for the pizza party. We will serve pizza, water bottles, veggies and a good luck cake! So, if your child can bring $5 on
Wed., that would be fantastic. The kids can be picked up at school at 4:30p. I would love it if every member of the swimming and diving team would attend the Sandwich Project and Psyche Party! If your child can't, please email me so that we know how much food to order.
Jr. High Swim Team Raffle Basket
Christine McMullen, Megan's mom, has volunteered to head up our swim/dive team basket for the annual Flight Fest raffle that's held every Fall. We had THE BEST basket last year!!! Please contribute, if you can.

Spirit Wear - If you ordered spirit wear, it will be at the pool on Saturday so the swimmers will have it for the meet.
No Practice on Thursday 12/6 because of a High School meet. However, there will be a practice on Friday, Dec. 7 from 6:15 - 7:30p.m. Hopefully all swimmers can make the practice.

Swim Suit Info - 11/17/12
Below is information regarding what is allowed on competition swim suits. If you have a question as to whether the suit you child has is ok, please ask. As a reminder, for meets, I would like the swimmers to wear a solid black (or dark) swim suit. Boys can have a print on the panels of their jammers, if they already own one w/the panel design. I really don't think it is necessary to spend a lot of money on a specific suit that they will only wear for 6-7 meets. If in doubt, please ask.

Question:
Can you remind me of what the ruling is on logos on swim suits? If a girl has Speedo written on the top/center of the chest (approx. 1 1/2 inches wide by 3/4 inches tall) is that ok? Can a jr. high swimmer wear a female Aves high school swim suit? (black w/the Aves logo in the center of the chest - which is probably about 4-5" wide and maybe 2-3" tall).
Answers:
Second question first.......no problem with the high school suit.
First question......rule reads, "A single visible manufacturer's logo/trademark/reference, no more than 2 ¼ square inches is permitted on each item of the uniform (suit and cap(s)). If the size is in question, measure it when dry, before she puts it on. I'll bet it's fine.

The Junior High Swimming & Diving team is offering a wide selection of Spirit Wear this year through Queen City Spirit.
Discounted Swimmer Packs include a T-shirt, shorts and a sweatshirt. T-shirts and sweatshirts include the athlete's name on the back. The shorts are imprinted with "AVES Swimming & Diving". All items may be ordered a la carte as well, and there are additional items available too, such as beanies, knit hats, scarves, parent shirts and more.
Samples of shorts and the 1/4 zip pullovers (very popular at the high school!) will be available at practice
THURSDAY EVENING to help athletes determine the best fit.

NOVEMBER 20TH so that we can have the t-shirts for our first meet! Please do not give orders to Avi or send to school.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or contact Queen City Spirit, ask for Deanna, at the contact number or address found on their website. For the Team T-shirt, some girls have requested a "girls" style shirt, and that option has been added as part of the player pack for girls, or individually. You will notice when you select the player pack option for girls, there are, therefore, 2 different T-shirts listed. Select ONE as part of your pack.
If you have already ordered and would like to switch to that style T-shirt, please send me an e-mail so I can make that change. There is no difference in price, and the graphic and color are the same. I just gives a more "feminine" style to the t-shirt.

next Tuesday, we should be able to show up to our first meet in Team Spirit Style! AND fill the halls of the Junior High that day with Loads of Swim Team paraphernalia!
